What Happened to Miracle Whip?

Okay, the update on the Mayo vs Miracle Whip thing is not going as planned so far. A couple of days ago, we had tuna fish sandwiches using Miracle Whip.

This was not the Miracle Whip I knew growing up. Neither of us could appreciate much of a taste at all. It’s a crisis.

Even the label on the jar looks strange. Since when does Kraft call it “Creamy Mayo & Tangy Dressing?” Why do they need to use the word “Mayo?” And it didn’t have the tangy flavor I remember.

This is all because of aliens. I’m pretty sure this is a violation of the Intergalactic Federation for Preservation of Tanginess Standards (IFFPOTS). Look it up.

I never made Miracle Whip sandwiches with just Miracle Whip on two slices of bread. I also had a slice of lunch meat on them. In fact, I ate one Miracle Whip nitrate-rich lunch meat sandwich a day for lunch for years. Its’ a good thing scientists discovered that nitrates aren’t bad for you.

But the point is the Miracle Whip tasted tangy back in those days. What happened?

Maybe it’s because my taste buds are older. More likely it’s because aliens kidnapped me and altered my taste buds. Or maybe they altered the Miracle Whip itself.

We’re not done yet. There are other recipes to try.

  1. That was very entertaining. We came across your commentary whilst trying to prove to my dad (89) that Miracle Whip has not changed their recipe it’s just him (age lol) & we enjoyed your confirmation… especially since the aliens had been a recent interest as well! Thanks Bro. Amos!

    1. I absolutely agree with you. I used to make my double bags and macaroni salad and coleslaw with that. I’ll never buy it again because the price is so outrageous now and it doesn’t even taste remotely the same.

  2. YES PLEASE!!! go back to the old recipe. I grew up on Miracle Whip and have eaten it for over 45 years. In the last few years, the taste has changed and it’s not a good change! I’ve noticed my potato salad, deviled eggs and sandwiches have a funky, nasty taste and I haven’t changed my recipes. There’s an awful aftertaste. My daughter told me to stir it up before I use it and it’s much better, but not the same. We never had to stir it up before and for what you have to pay for it, shouldn’t have to! Manufacturers cut-back to save money and charge more money for less product. I don’t want to, but if this taste continues, I’ll have to start using store brands, it’s a lot cheaper anyway!

  3. I also came across your page whilst trying to confirm my suspicions that the formula for Miracle Whip has changed. I am so fed up with the practices of these greedy corporate crooks! We need to voice our opinions directly to Kraft Heinz… not that they will care any 😦

  4. I feel the same way as these others do. It just isn’t as good and doesn’t taste the same? Why? Why? Do they always want to change something that works?

    1. Cost cutting, Sharon. Sadly, it’s always about their bottom line, rather than pleasing their faithful consumers.

  5. I too hate the taste of Miracle Whip now. Why did you try to fix something that wasn’t broken. Please go back to the original formula!!!

  6. 5 adults in this house and we all agree, don’t like Miracle whip anymore. Changes the flavor of everything I loved to make with it before. From just a simple sandwich to all the different salads I made. Give us back the taste we love!!!
