I think it’s worthwhile to reblog my post “Psychiatric Polypharmacy: An Opportunity to teach with CPCP,” originally posted on this date in 2022. CPCP stands for Clinical Problems in Consultation Psychiatry, which was started by my consultation-liaison psychiatry teacher, Bill Yates. Staying current with what the medical literature says about the safest and most effective way to evaluate and treat patients who have both medical and psychiatric problems.

The CPCP was an outstanding way to instruct learners about how to function as members of a medical team that is sometimes thought of as a moveable feast in the general hospital. We were almost constantly on the move, doing our best to put out fires all over the wards.

I don’t know if the CPCP is still a thing at the hospital. I hope something like it still exists. Thinking “both/and” rather than “either/or” is always best.
