Every once in a while, I look back in my past. It’s not always the greatest thing to do, but when most of the memories are good, then it’s OK, I guess. I saw something that made me do this about a week ago while I was taking a walk around the block. It’s a property corner stake. They used to be a simple iron rod but they changed them and, at least the way a I remember, it was a T shaped rod. It was made so a registered professional land surveyor could put a cap on it with his or her license number. They’re not all made the same way, but it’s standard for the surveyor to mark it with the cap.

When I wore a younger man’s clothes, a consulting engineers company called Wallace Holland Kastler Schmitz & Co. (WHKS & Co.) hired me as a land surveyor’s assistant and a draftsman. Really as far as the latter, I was what they called an inker. I traced over the real draftsman’s work with an ink pen.
I actually did a fair job of describing what I did in my post “Reminisce Once in a While” which I posted August 28, 2021. I I’ve done a couple of posts like that, but I think that one is the best. This is more like a reblog.
