I have a big shout out to Dr. George Dawson, MD for his post on his blog Real Psychiatry about the trolling of psychiatrists on social media.
I tried adding links to social media from my blog for a short while and dropped it years ago.

Thanks Jim! I hope I am capturing the experience of most psychiatrists and not just the old ones. There is an inevitable competitive factor when you start out in any field. You get a different perspective after decades. The eye opener for me happened about 25 years ago when I was running an Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorder Clinic. I had just seen a new patient and dictated the initial assessment. A previous assessment was faxed in and I noticed it was done by a fellow resident from my training program. Her note – section for section was almost identical to my note. The take home for me is that to be good you don’t have to be unique. Have been celebrating the fact that we are all good ever since.

That’s a great story! I recently heard from one of the med-psych residents I taught many years ago. She teaches residents now and uses my Psychosomatic Medicine handbook published by Cambridge U Press. Her trainees say she sounds like my text.
