Practicing the Flicking Multiplex Juggling Trick and the Return of the Claw!
Sena got me a couple of brand-new juggling tee shirts, which meant that I had to come up with a couple of new tricks to cause brand new joint injuries! I learned from Logan at Juggling Gym that the word “multiplex” doesn’t just mean a movie theater with multiple screens. A multiplex throw is “where…

Reminisce About the Old Days on the Psychiatry Consult Service
I reminisce once in a while on my early days running the Psychiatry consultation service at University of Iowa Health Care. I was involved in a delirium prevention committee back in 2011. The old blog post below shows my frustration with how slow progress seems to be in committees. I used to watch Hogan’s Heroes…

Jim Does The Georgian Shuffle Juggle!
I’m working on a new juggling trick called the Georgian Shuffle. I learned it from Juggle Gym. It didn’t take too long to sort of get the hang of it although I’m pretty slow yet. It’s fun to do and I may smooth it out after a while. Sena likes the claw throw, which is…

House of Svengoolie Show Movie: “The Swamp Thing” & “Hey Jude”
I watched the whole 1982 movie, “The Swamp Thing” and I hope you appreciate that, because most of it was pretty tough to sit through without yawning. Sena saw parts of it (we have two TVs) because, well, she likes to flip channels. And flipping channels is what could make you miss the best parts…

Big Shoes Friday Blues Show is a Kickin’ Mule!
Last night I finally got it straight from host Ed English what the new name is for the Friday night blues show on KCCK-FM. It’s the Big Shoes Friday Blues Show. Ed has a lot of good energy, his voice is bright, he’s smart, and he makes sure that women and local blues artists get…

Dental Work by Tiny AI Robots?
Sena told me about a news story about tiny fit-in-your-mouth Artificial Intelligence dental robots that could make crowns. You know, I recently lost a crown and I’m still waiting to get a tooth pulled so I can move forward with getting a denture installed eventually. For some reason, this reminds me of a Chrysler New…

Juggle Boxer!
Got another juggling video coming at you! I found these tricks on Juggling Gym. They didn’t take long to learn. The demo shows punching the ball with one hand only. So, I tried to make it look sort of like boxing by using both hands. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee—and fall like…

This is just an update about the Iowa City notice regarding the upcoming Iowa City Sculptors Showcase for 2026-2028. This means that the date is fast approaching for sculptors to remove the current sculptures to be removed between July 21-28, 2026. We have enjoyed the Art in Parks sculptors showcase and anticipate another great set…

Learn to Juggle YouTube Videos
I did that bounce off the knee trick yesterday, and I looked at a YouTube to get the gist of it. And then I remembered the JuggleGym YouTube site. Logan has a ton of juggling tricks and even has one with her and her dad doing tandem juggling together. Type in “dad” on the site.…

Bounce Ball Off the Knee Juggling Trick!
I had an audience (Sena) today for my new easy juggling trick, which is bouncing the ball off your knee. This trick was in my original booklet in the learning how to juggle kit, which I got 3 years ago. I never bothered to learn it. I looked it up on the internet and teachers…
