What’s Up with the Puffy Robin?

,

Sena got a video of a really puffy robin yesterday. It’s not obese, but it was puffing out its breast and spreading its wings out over the ground. It was a little mysterious. Some experts say that puffing up like this means its trying to keep warm. But it was around 80 degrees.

Others say that puffing up is a way of looking dominant, as if to say, “Don’t mess with me!”

Spreading out the wings on the ground might mean it’s trying to kill parasites on its feathers. That’s possible. Some might say that’s called “mantling” and it could mean they’re trying to hide prey the bird has caught to hide it from other birds.

Maybe it’s bloating and just needs a dose of Gas-X.
