We got our vaccines for 2026. Sena got the flu and Covid shots. And after about a year of her educating me about the shingles vaccine, I got that yesterday as well as my own Covid and flu shots. The shingles vaccine is a 2-shot series: an initial dose and a second one 2-6 months after that.
Sena got her shingles vaccines last year after hearing a harrowing story from somebody about how painful the shingles can be. The tech who gave me my shingles vaccine suggested giving it in my left arm because people have been telling him how sore the arm gets. Both arms are sore, which is normal.
There are recent news stories about how the shingles vaccines studies show a correlation between getting the shot and reducing the occurrence of dementia. Evidence for correlations are not the same as evidence for causation.
I took pictures of me afterward and couldn’t help noticing the gap in my row of my teeth on the right side. It’s probably one reason why it might be a good idea to get a partial denture—even if it’s only one tooth.
