Hawk Morning Exercises

, , ,

We saw the Red-tail hawk messing with our rake out in the backyard garden. It looked like it was either exercising or trying to fly off with it—to do what was a mystery.

It also attacked our property corner marker, which is just a wooden stick. Chuck Norris could kill two sticks with one hawk. Chuck Norris taunts hawks; he even wrote a book about it: “To Mock a Killing Bird.”

It looked like it was trying to catch a red-wing blackbird by tightrope walking towards it along a fence top.

We regularly see 1-3 Red-tail hawks pretty much every day now. We think they’re juveniles because their behavior doesn’t always make a lot of sense. They constantly look like they’re still learning what their wings are for.
