Go Retire Psychiatrist

Yesterday I was hiking hither and yon and ended up at Barnes and Noble. You’ll never guess what I bought there! Oh, you read the title of this post, OK.

I always stop at the humor section and I never see anything by Dave Barry. When I saw his new book (well, newer; Class Clown, The Memoirs of a Professional Wiseass, published in 2025) I could not believe it. I was so excited, I told the cashier that I’ve been shopping or at least loitering in Barnes and Noble for ages and never saw anything by Dave Barry in the humor section or any other section (and what other section would it be in? Books for 8^th graders?).

I used to have nearly all of Dave Barry’s books. I donated all of them to Goodwill and of course you could argue that hardly counted as generosity since many would say his books rot the mind. Actually, they don’t, but who listens to me?

Now I have two books by Dave Barry. It’s a smaller collection than I’ve had in the past, but size doesn’t matter—at least in this category. I haven’t started reading it yet except for a couple of snippets, but trust me, even the snippets are funny. Buy this book immediately or I will hunt you down and read it to you!
