Today is National Hospital Day and National Limerick Day!

Today, in view of this being Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m calling attention to other national special days. One of them is National Hospital Day (and there’s also a National Hospital Week, which runs from May 10-16 this year). And I learned that this is also National Limerick Day, in honor of the English author and poet who popularized the limerick.

I got a big kick out of The King of Limericks website. Check out the Mental Limericks about Psychiatry.

Here’s my limerick:

I was a consulting psychiatrist

I walked so much I needed a podiatrist

The rooms were so bare I brought my own chair

And the ICU patients were the quietest

I'm a retired consult-liaison psychiatrist. I navigated the path in a phased retirement program through the hospital where I was employed. I was fully retired as of June 30, 2020. This blog chronicles my journey.
