I’m reblogging “Autumn Whisper” for a couple of reasons. One of them is that it fits autumn this year as well. It’s also interesting that the artist for the sculpture “Wings” is Hilda DeBruyne. Her sculpture “Flight” for the 2026-2028 Sculptors Showcase is also reminiscent of birds. It’s located at the Iowa River Trail near the McCollister Bridge. That was the same location for “Wings.”
This reminded me of the time in February of this year we saw a flock of birds at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area (which, by the way, is pretty close to the Iowa River Trail where DeBruyne’s sculpture is located) that we and other people on the trail couldn’t decide whether they were storks or pelicans. They were pelicans.
I sometimes wish we could fly away and migrate to a better place.
