New Talking Statue of Iowa City Historian Irving Weber!

Here’s a short news item about Iowa City historian Irving Weber, whose statue is on Iowa Avenue in downtown Iowa City. You can also find the notice about the talking Irving Weber statue at this link.

This has a couple of connections to point out. Irving Weber worked in the dairy industry for man years so there’s connection to the current observation of National Dairy Month, which is in June annually.

The other connection (you might want to sit down for this) is to the annual University of Iowa Psychiatry Dept Kickball (formerly Matball) game in Napoleon Park on 2501 S Gilbert St. in Iowa City.

There’s a YouTube video of Irving Weber giving a presentation on the history of the town of Napoleon in this area. That’s where Napoleon Park gets its name. You can learn a lot more about Mr. Weber at the Our Iowa Heritage web page. You could also try talking to his statue downtown.
